The Butterfly's Dream: A New Theory of Reincarnation

$8.88

This book proposes a new perspective about reincarnation based on the Buddhist theory of eight consciousness, along with accounts of people who have documented proof of their rebirth. It also uses acupuncture jingmai theory to explain the physiological and energetic processes that take place during the different cycles of life. Based on Buddhist theory of karma, it also explains how we can achieve a higher rebirth by doing good deeds and not to commit bad actions.
The book begins with the story of a Taoist master. At night the master dreams he is a butterfly. When he wakes up, he does not know if he is a man dreaming he is a butterfly or a butterfly dreaming he is a man. Included in this book as well is a unique effort to connect the Asian Jingmai systems with modern Western scientific advances such as quantum energetic theory, molecular genetic information theory, and human embryology theory.
Finally, the book ends with the famous "Legend of Butterfly Lovers", looked on as a Chinese version of Romeo and Juliet. In this story two ill-starred paramours, Zhu and Liang, die and turn into butterflies, a metaphor for the process of spiritual development from the stage of the cocoon to full-winged beauty. Representing the female Yin and the male Yang, Zhu and Liang’s love transcends physical love, approaching the boundaries of metaphysical transcendence. Thus. by melding one into the other at death they enter the realm of spiritual love and hence into non-differential reality.
Whether it be through Buddhism, Hinduism or Taoism, an unseen hand beckoning to us from an unseen world reminds us that the goal of life is neither pleasure nor profit but the single-minded pursuit of who we really are and why we are here.
